Summary of ngNOG 09, Covenant University, Otta: 
Nov 02nd -09th 2014
 

The 9th edition of the annual series of the Nigerian Network Operators’ Group (ngNOG)
Workshop and Meetings was successfully held at the Covenant University (CU) from 02 – 09
November, 2014.
Seventy-one (71) delegates from 22 Institutions and Organizations participated in the four
parallel tracks of the 2014 ngNOG workshop in Canaan Land, Ota. This compares to the 97
delegates from 32 institutions at ngNOG 2012 in Kaduna and 62 delegates from 18 institutions
in the five tracks of ngNOG 2013 in Benin.
Professor Charles Ayo, the Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University declared the workshop open
while welcoming participants and expressing his appreciation to the Forum for according to CU the
honor of being the first private Institution to host the ngNOG event.
The Vice-Chancellor also expressed his enthusiasm towards the event for being organized and
hosted by Nigerians in order to build internal capacity. This is said is in line with Covenant
University’s’ vision of being “1 of 10 in 10”.
Participants were also taken on a tour of CU where they had a feel of Canaan land and its
environs. They also visited the neighboring Bells University which is a few kilometers from
Covenant University.
The distribution of the 71 delegates to the 2014 workshop tracks is given below:

18 Applications and Content Development (ACD)
We are grateful to the various Institutions and Firms, who contributed instructors and
presenters: University of Jos ; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria ; University of Benin ; University
of Abuja ; Yaba College of Technology ; Ondo State University of Science & Technology ;
Bayero University Kano; Eko-Konnect; NISTech Ltd; and The Bandwidth Consortium.
At 16%, the participation rate for women is an improvement to the 7% at Benin, it is also
noteworthy to state that the best participants in all four tracks were female. The ngNOG admin
looks forward to an increased no of female participants in the 2015 edition.
Tutorials presented at ngNOG IX were: on Bonding-Managing Multiple Networks by Emmanuel
Onowojo , Data Back-Up by Benjamin Ben, Virtualization by Cletus Okolie and a presentation
on the The Bandwidth Consortium by Adewole Ajao
